I earned a Masters degree in Counseling from San Francisco State University in 1985. My Bachelor of Sciences, also from SFSU, is in Creative Writing, with a minor in Human Sexuality. I was licensed to practice by the state of California in 1987 and in Oregon in 1991 as a Marriage and Family Therapist. I have maintained a private practice since 1987. I attend trainings regularly on different subjects pertinent to my skills as a therapist, and am certified in Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples.
After thirty five years in practice, I remain deeply committed to my work and my clients and excited about the process of change. I am humbled by the risks clients take in therapy to reveal themselves to their partners and to me. I cannot imagine having chosen more enlivening and rewarding work, and I am grateful to those who have decided to share their life's journey with me on such an intimate basis.
In my personal life, I am partnered and the mother of one adult son. As all lives do, my own life has taken many twists and turns, and all of these have provided valuable life lessons, which I strive to bring to my work with clients.

My fee for therapy is $200.00 for 50 minute sessions and $275.00 for 75 minute sessions. Office hours are Tuesday through Thursday, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Fees, payable by check, cash or credit card, are due at the time of your appointment unless other arrangements have been made in advance.
I am seeing clients through the Zoom platform. I have found online sessions to be as effective as those conducted in person, and clients appreciate the convenience of not having to commute to and from an office.
Many insurance companies reimburse for services and reimburse at their same rate for either telehealth or in person appointments. By choice, I am not a preferred provider or on managed care panels. Therapy under an insurance plan cannot remain entirely confidential. When I am an “out of panel” provider or you are paying out of pocket, information about you is limited, beyond the requirement to provide your insurance company an acceptable diagnosis code for reimbursement purposes.
Most insurance companies will cover my some portion of my services as an out of panel provider. If your insurance company covers part of my fee, I will assist you by providing billing statements and other necessary information. It is important to note that insurance companies require a diagnosis to be made. If you choose to use your insurance benefits, I am happy to discuss your diagnosis with you at the beginning of our work together so that you are informed about what goes on your medical records. If you do not know what your mental health benefits are, you should contact your insurance company about their policies, deductible and number of sessions per year covered under your plan. You are responsible for emailing the billing form I provide on to you insurance company to receive reimbursement directly. It is understood that you are ultimately responsible for payment of your therapy services.
Because your time is reserved only for you, I have a MINIMUM 24 hour cancellation policy. More notice is greatly appreciated! If you need to cancel your appointment, please do so outside of the 24 hour period to avoid being charged your full fee for the missed session.
